Increase the maximum number of apics when running very large
configurations. This patch has no affect on most systems.
The patch has no effect on any 32-bit kernel. It adds ~4k to the size
of 64-bit kernels but only if NR_CPUS > 255.

GCC 4.1 gives the following warning: include/asm/mpspec.h:79: warning:
`packed' attribute ignored for field of type `unsigned char'
The packed attribute isn't really necessary anyways so just remove it.

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.
Let it rip!
