I believe these error messages are already logged
on allocation failure by warn_alloc_failed and so
get a dump_stack on OOM.
Remove the unnecessary additional error logging.

while now and is almost always enabled by default. As agreed during the
Linux kernel summit, remove it from any "depends on" lines in Kconfigs.

The option allows you to remove TTY and compile without errors. This
saves space on systems that won't support TTY interfaces anyway.
bloat-o-meter output is below.
The bulk of this patch consists of Kconfig changes adding "depends on
TTY" to various serial devices and similar drivers that require the TTY
layer. Ideally, these dependencies would occur on a common intermediate
symbol such as SERIO, but most drivers "select SERIO" rather than
"depends on SERIO", and "select" does not respect dependencies.
bloat-o-meter output comparing our previous minimal to new minimal by
removing TTY. The list is filtered to not show removed entries with awk
'$3 != "-"' as the list was very long.

One point is to have less places where we actually need tty pointer.
The other is that low_latency is bound to buffer processing and
buffers are now in tty_port. So it makes sense to move low_latency to
tty_port too.

The __dev* removal patches for the network drivers ended up messing up
the function prototypes for a bunch of drivers. This patch fixes all of
them back up to be properly aligned.
Bonus is that this almost removes 100 lines of code, always a nice
surprise.

function abort its success execution path, but returns non negative
value, making it dificult for a caller function to notice the error.
This patch fixes the error cases that do not return negative values.

In case of error, the function clk_get() returns ERR_PTR()
and never returns NULL pointer. The NULL test in the error
handling should be replaced with IS_ERR().

This will let us sort out a whole pile of tty related races. The
alternative would be to keep points and refcount the termios objects.
However
1. They are tiny anyway
2. Many devices don't use the stored copies
3. We can remove a pty special case

After c00184f9ab4 "ARM: sa11x0/pxa: convert OS timer registers to IOMEM",
magician_defconfig and a few others fail to build because the OSCR
register is accessed by the drivers/net/irda/pxaficp_ir.c but has turned
into a pointer that needs to be read using readl.
There are other registers in the same driver that eventually should
be converted, and it's unclear whether we would want a better interface
to access the OSCR from a device driver.

Adding casts of objects to the same type is unnecessary
and confusing for a human reader.
For example, this cast:

I used the coccinelle script below to find and remove these
unnecessary casts. I manually removed the conversions this

Current ARM7 Cirrus Logic product line contains only 3 cpu.
EP7312 - Fully functional.
EP7309 - Missing SDRAM interface.
EP7311 - Missing DAI.
It makes no sense to separate the header files to identify these differences,
it is only necessary to keep in mind the presence or lack of any features of
a specific CPU when writing code.

As the DMA engine API allows DMA channels to be reconfigured on the
fly, we can now support switching the DMA channel configuration to
support SIR transmit DMA without needing to claim an additional
physical DMA channel - thereby using up half the DMA channels just
for one driver.

The sa11x0-ir device is not the device which is doing the DMA, the
DMA is being performed by a separate DMA engine. Split the struct
device associated with each DMA channel from the main struct device,
but for the time being initialize it from the main struct device.
This is another preparatory step to converting this driver to use the
DMA engine API.

The SIR transmit buffer was being allocated as 4000 bytes. IrDA now
has constants for the buffer sizes, and defines the maximum wrapped
SIR packet to be 4269 bytes as indicated by IRDA_SIR_MAX_FRAME. Use
this definition to allocate the transmit buffer instead.
