In some obscure scenarios e.g. passing a 0-byte backing file
storage, wait_for_completion() would wait forever in fsg_cleanup().
Prevent it by completing the thread in fsg_bind() error path.

This patch (as1172) adds the ability to emulate a CD-ROM drive to
g_file_storage. The emulation is limited, since it presents as a disc
containing a single data track and no audio tracks. Still, it may
come in useful on occasion.

Fsync currently has a fdatawrite/fdatawait pair around the method call,
and a mutex_lock/unlock of the inode mutex. All callers of fsync have
to duplicate this, but we have a few and most of them don't quite get
it right. This patch adds a new vfs_fsync that takes care of this.
It's a little more complicated as usual as ->fsync might get a NULL file
pointer and just a dentry from nfsd, but otherwise gets afile and we
want to take the mapping and file operations from it when it is there.
Notes on the fsync callers:
- ecryptfs wasn't calling filemap_fdatawrite / filemap_fdatawait on the
lower file
- coda wasn't calling filemap_fdatawrite / filemap_fdatawait on the host
file, and returning 0 when ->fsync was missing
- shm wasn't calling either filemap_fdatawrite / filemap_fdatawait nor
taking i_mutex. Now given that shared memory doesn't have disk
backing not doing anything in fsync seems fine and I left it out of
the vfs_fsync conversion for now, but in that case we might just
not pass it through to the lower file at all but just call the no-op
simple_sync_file directly.

Offer a "how much VBUS power to request" configuration option
for USB gadgets that aren't using board-specific customization
of their gadget or (composite) configuration drivers.
Also remove a couple pointless "depends on USB_GADGET" bits
from the Kconfig text; booleans inside an "if USB_GADGET" will
already have that dependency.

We want to use WARN() as a variant of WARN_ON(), however a few drivers are
using WARN() internally. This patch renames these to WARNING() to avoid the
namespace clash. A few cases were defining but not using the thing, for those
cases I just deleted the definition.

Bulk-Only Transport specification. After an invalid CBW is received,
the gadget must ignore any further bulk-OUT data until it is reset.

The task_struct->pid member is going to be deprecated, so start
using the helpers (task_pid_nr/task_pid_vnr/task_pid_nr_ns) in
the kernel.
The first thing to start with is the pid, printed to dmesg - in
this case we may safely use task_pid_nr(). Besides, printks produce
more (much more) than a half of all the explicit pid usage.

This patch (as983) makes a test for minimum-length command sizes in
g_file_storage less restrictive. It doesn't matter because commands
with bad lengths will be detected later on anyway, and doing it like
this makes the driver interoperable with certain buggy hosts such as
the JVC HiFi (reported by Samuel Hangouet).

Clean up the file storage gadget, using newer APIs and conventions:
- gadget_is_dualspeed() and gadget_is_otg() ... #ifdef removal
- Remove many now-needless #includes
- Use the DEBUG (from Kconfig+Makefile) and VERBOSE_DEBUG conventions.
- Remove some "sparse" warnings (it still dislikes the __user annotations)
This gave only a minor object code shrinkage.

This patch (as963) fixes a recently-introduced bug. The gadget
conversion removing DMA-mapped buffer allocation did not remove quite
enough code from the g_file_storage driver; DMA pointers were being
set to 0.

Currently, the freezer treats all tasks as freezable, except for the kernel
threads that explicitly set the PF_NOFREEZE flag for themselves. This
approach is problematic, since it requires every kernel thread to either
set PF_NOFREEZE explicitly, or call try_to_freeze(), even if it doesn't
care for the freezing of tasks at all.
It seems better to only require the kernel threads that want to or need to
be frozen to use some freezer-related code and to remove any
freezer-related code from the other (nonfreezable) kernel threads, which is
done in this patch.
The patch causes all kernel threads to be nonfreezable by default (ie. to
have PF_NOFREEZE set by default) and introduces the set_freezable()
function that should be called by the freezable kernel threads in order to
unset PF_NOFREEZE. It also makes all of the currently freezable kernel
threads call set_freezable(), so it shouldn't cause any (intentional)
change of behaviour to appear. Additionally, it updates documentation to
describe the freezing of tasks more accurately.

Remove usb_ep_{alloc,free}_buffer() calls, for small dma-coherent buffers.
This patch just removes the interface and its users; later patches will
remove controller driver support.
- This interface is invariably not implemented correctly in the
controller drivers (e.g. using dma pools, a mechanism which
post-dates the interface by several years).
- At this point no gadget driver really *needs* to use it. In
current kernels, any driver that needs such a mechanism could
allocate a dma pool themselves.
Removing this interface is thus a simplification and improvement.
Note that the gmidi.c driver had a bug in this area; fixed.

Allow gadget drivers to omit the unbind() method. When they're
statically linked, that's an appropriate memory saving tweak.
Similarly, provide consistent/simpler handling for a should-not-happen
error case: removing a peripheral controller driver when a gadget
driver is still loaded. Such code dates back to early versions of the
first implementation of the gadget API, and has never been triggered.
Includes relevant section annotation fixs for gmidi.c, file_storage.c,
and serial.c; we don't yet have an "init or exit" annotation. Also
some whitespace fixes in gmidi.c (space at EOL, before tabs, etc).

In some places, particularly drivers and __init code, the init utsns is the
appropriate one to use. This patch replaces those with a the init_utsname
helper.
Changes: Removed several uses of init_utsname(). Hope I picked all the
right ones in net/ipv4/ipconfig.c. These are now changed to
utsname() (the per-process namespace utsname) in the previous
patch (2/7)

Strictly speaking, the Valid bit in SCSI sense data is supposed to
be set only when the Information field contains a valid number. This
patch (as793) turns off the Valid bit when the Information field
hasn't been set.

Recent section changes broke gadget builds on some platforms. This patch
is the best fix that's available until better section markings exist:
- There's a lot of cleanup code that gets used in both init and exit paths;
stop marking it as "__exit".
(Best fix for this would be an "__init_or_exit" section marking, putting
the cleanup in __init when __exit sections get discarded else in __exit.)
- Stop marking the use-once probe routines as "__init" since references
to those routines are not allowed from driver structures. They're now
marked "__devinit", which in practice is a net lose.
(Best fix for this is likely to separate such use-once probe routines
from the driver structure ... but in general, all busses that aren't
hotpluggable will be forced to waste memory for all probe-only code.)
In general these broken section rules waste an average of two to four kBytes
per driver of code bloat ... because none of the relevant code can ever be
reused after module initialization.

A process flag to indicate whether we are doing sync io is incredibly
ugly. It also causes performance problems when one does a lot of async
io and then proceeds to sync it. Part of the io will go out as async,
and the other part as sync. This causes a disconnect between the
previously submitted io and the synced io. For io schedulers such as CFQ,
this will cause us lost merges and suboptimal behaviour in scheduling.
Remove PF_SYNCWRITE completely from the fsync/msync paths, and let
the O_DIRECT path just directly indicate that the writes are sync
by using WRITE_SYNC instead.

I'm told that some UDC hardware may work better if it knows that
receiving a short packet should always cause an error. Accordingly,
this patch (as663) sets the short_not_ok flag for bulk-out transfers in
g_file_storage. Oddly enough, there are no circumstances where that
driver can legally receive a shorter-than-expected bulk-out packet.

This adds __init section annotations to gadget driver bind() routines to
remove calls from .text into .init sections (for endpoint autoconfig).
Likewise it adds __exit section annotations to their unbind() routines.
The specification of the gadget driver register/unregister functions is
updated to explicitly allow use of those sections.

This patch (as612) removes the "volatile" declarations from the
file-storage gadget. It turns out that they aren't needed for anything
much; adding a few memory barriers does a sufficient job.
The patch also removes a wait_queue. Not much point having a queue when
only one task is ever going to be on it!

This patch (as601) adds a proper reference count to the file-storage
gadget's main data structure, to keep track of references held by child
devices (LUNs in this case). Before this, the driver would wait for
each child to be released before unbinding.
While there's nothing really wrong with that (you can't create a hang by
doing "rmmod g_file_storage </sys/.../lun0/ro" since the open file will
prevent rmmod from running), the code might as well follow the standard
procedures. Besides, this shrinks the size of the structure by a few
words... :-)

API. The new code doesn't use kthread_stop because the control thread
needs to terminate asynchronously when it receives a signal.

This patch centralizes the assignment of bcdDevice numbers for different
gadget controllers. This won't improve the object code at all, but it
does save a lot of repetitive and error-prone source code ... and will
simplify the work of supporting a new controller driver, since most new
gadget drivers will no longer need patches (unless some hardware quirks
limit USB protocol messaging).
Added minor cleanups and identifer hooks for the UDC in the Freescale
iMX series processors.

USB byteorder (matching the annotation in <linux/usb_ch9.h> and usage
in the host side stack):
- definition in <linux/usb_gadget.h>
- gadget drivers: Ethernet/RNDIS, serial/ACM, file_storage, gadgetfs.
- dummy_hcd
It also includes some other similar changes as suggested by "sparse",
which was used to detect byteorder bugs.
