Introduce new interfaces, dma_*map*_attrs(), for passing architecture-specific
attributes when memory is mapped and unmapped for DMA. Give the interfaces
default implementations which ignore attributes. Also introduce the
dma_{set|get}_attr() interfaces for setting and retrieving individual
attributes. Define one attribute, DMA_ATTR_WRITE_BARRIER, in anticipation of
its use by ia64/sn. Select whether architectures implement arch-specific
versions of the dma_*map*_attrs() interfaces via HAVE_DMA_ATTRS in Kconfig.

IA64's IOMMU implementation allocates memory areas spanning LLD's segment
boundary limit. It forces low level drivers to have a workaround to adjust
scatter lists that the IOMMU builds.
We are in the process of making all the IOMMUs respect the segment boundary
limits to remove such work around in LLDs. This patch is for IA64's IOMMU.

Add CONFIG_HAVE_KRETPROBES to the arch/<arch>/Kconfig file for relevant
architectures with kprobes support. This facilitates easy handling of
in-kernel modules (like samples/kprobes/kretprobe_example.c) that depend on
kretprobes being present in the kernel.
Thanks to Sam Ravnborg for helping make the patch more lean.
Per Mathieu's suggestion, added CONFIG_KRETPROBES and fixed up dependencies.

This patch implements VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING for ia64,
which enable us to use more accurate cpu time accounting.
The VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING is an item of kernel config, which s390
and powerpc arch have. By turning this config on, these archs
change the mechanism of cpu time accounting from tick-sampling
based one to state-transition based one.
The state-transition based accounting is done by checking time
(cycle counter in processor) at every state-transition point,
such as entrance/exit of kernel, interrupt, softirq etc.
The difference between point to point is the actual time consumed
during in the state. There is no doubt about that this value is
more accurate than that of tick-sampling based accounting.

Commit bdc807871d broke the build
for this config because the sim_defconfig selects CONFIG_HZ=250
but include/asm-ia64/param.h has an ifdef for the simulator to
force HZ to 32. So we ended up with a kernel/timeconst.h set
for HZ=250 ... which then failed the check for the right HZ
value and died with:
Drop the #ifdef magic from param.h and make force CONFIG_HZ=32
directly for the simulator.

To allow flexible configuration of IDE introduce HAVE_IDE.
All archs except arm, um and s390 unconditionally select it.
For arm the actual configuration determine if IDE is supported.
This is a step towards introducing drivers/Kconfig for arm.

The break_lock data structure and code for spinlocks is quite nasty.
Not only does it double the size of a spinlock but it changes locking to
a potentially less optimal trylock.
Put all of that under CONFIG_GENERIC_LOCKBREAK, and introduce a
__raw_spin_is_contended that uses the lock data itself to determine whether
there are waiters on the lock, to be used if CONFIG_GENERIC_LOCKBREAK is
not set.
Rename need_lockbreak to spin_needbreak, make it use spin_is_contended to
decouple it from the spinlock implementation, and make it typesafe (rwlocks
do not have any need_lockbreak sites -- why do they even get bloated up
with that break_lock then?).

Currently mobility grouping works at the MAX_ORDER_NR_PAGES level. This makes
sense for the majority of users where this is also the huge page size.
However, on platforms like ia64 where the huge page size is runtime
configurable it is desirable to group at a lower order. On x86_64 and
occasionally on x86, the hugepage size may not always be MAX_ORDER_NR_PAGES.
This patch groups pages together based on the value of HUGETLB_PAGE_ORDER. It
uses a compile-time constant if possible and a variable where the huge page
size is runtime configurable.
It is assumed that grouping should be done at the lowest sensible order and
that the user would not want to override this. If this is not true,
page_block order could be forced to a variable initialised via a boot-time
kernel parameter.
One potential issue with this patch is that IA64 now parses hugepagesz with
early_param() instead of __setup(). __setup() is called after the memory
allocator has been initialised and the pageblock bitmaps already setup. In
tests on one IA64 there did not seem to be any problem with using
early_param() and in fact may be more correct as it guarantees the parameter
is handled before the parsing of hugepages=.

Equip IA64 sparsemem with a virtual memmap. This is similar to the existing
CONFIG_VIRTUAL_MEM_MAP functionality for DISCONTIGMEM. It uses a PAGE_SIZE
mapping.
This is provided as a minimally intrusive solution. We split the 128TB
VMALLOC area into two 64TB areas and use one for the virtual memmap.
This should replace CONFIG_VIRTUAL_MEM_MAP long term.

This driver for HPQ5001 devices installs a global ACPI OpRegion handler.
AML methods can use this OpRegion to call native firmware entry points.
ACPI does not define a mechanism for AML methods to call native firmware
interfaces such as PAL or SAL. This OpRegion handler adds such a mechanism.
After the handler is installed, an AML method can call native firmware by
storing the arguments and firmware entry point to specific offsets in the
OpRegion. When AML reads the "return value" offset from the OpRegion, this
handler loads up the arguments, makes the firmware call, and returns the
result.

arch/ia64/Kconfig failed to include kernel/Kconfig.preempt that meant it
did not support PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY and PREEMPT_BKL (inadvertently).
This was recently noticed when the newly-added PREEMPT_NOTIFIERS in
Kconfig.preempt that was "select"ed from drivers/kvm/Kconfig (therefore)
started giving bogus warnings ('select' used by config symbol 'KVM' refers
to undefined symbol 'PREEMPT_NOTIFIERS') on ia64 builds.
So let's remove the open-coded definition of CONFIG_PREEMPT in
arch/ia64/Kconfig and replace it with just including Kconfig.preempt
instead, like the other archs do.

b716395e2b added code to handle
a compatability issue with 32bit quota tools, but the new compat
routines are only needed when CONFIG_COMPAT=y (and with this set
to 'n' there are compilation problems since some new typedefs are
not visible).

The PCI syscalls are built on every architecture except X86, but only
a few have ever hooked them up. Use a new Kconfig symbol to save a
couple of kB on the architectures that have never used the syscalls.

The evils of Kconfig's select bite us once again...
ia64/Kconfig selects ACPI, which depends on PM.
But select ignores dependencies, allnoconfig
chooses CONFIG_PM=n, and thus the menu of sub-options
under ACPI vanish, which breaks the build.
Manually select PM along with ACPI for now.
Some day, we should delete them both, or fix select.

If an ATA drive uses legacy mode, ata driver will choose 14 and 15
as the fixed irq number. On ia64 platform, such numbers are GSI and
should be converted to irq vector.

This patch simply defines CONFIG_ZONE_DMA for all arches. We later do special
things with CONFIG_ZONE_DMA after the VM and an arch are prepared to work
without ZONE_DMA.
CONFIG_ZONE_DMA can be defined in two ways depending on how an architecture
handles ISA DMA.
First if CONFIG_GENERIC_ISA_DMA is set by the arch then we know that the arch
needs ZONE_DMA because ISA DMA devices are supported. We can catch this in
mm/Kconfig and do not need to modify arch code.
Second, arches may use ZONE_DMA in an unknown way. We set CONFIG_ZONE_DMA for
all arches that do not set CONFIG_GENERIC_ISA_DMA in order to insure backwards
compatibility. The arches may later undefine ZONE_DMA if their arch code has
been verified to not depend on ZONE_DMA.

This facility provides three entry points:
ilog2() Log base 2 of unsigned long
ilog2_u32() Log base 2 of u32
ilog2_u64() Log base 2 of u64
These facilities can either be used inside functions on dynamic data:
int do_something(long q)
{
...;
y = ilog2(x)
...;
}
Or can be used to statically initialise global variables with constant values:
unsigned n = ilog2(27);
When performing static initialisation, the compiler will report "error:
initializer element is not constant" if asked to take a log of zero or of
something not reducible to a constant. They treat negative numbers as
unsigned.
When not dealing with a constant, they fall back to using fls() which permits
them to use arch-specific log calculation instructions - such as BSR on
x86/x86_64 or SCAN on FRV - if available.

Fix MSPEC driver to build for non SN2 enabled configs as the driver should
work in cached and uncached modes (no fetchop) on these systems. In
addition make MSPEC select IA64_UNCACHED_ALLOCATOR, which is required for
it and move it to arch/ia64/Kconfig to avoid warnings on non ia64
architectures running allmodconfig. Once the Kconfig code is fixed, we can
move it back.

When ACPI && NUMA, pxm_to_node is used and it exists in drivers/acpi/numa.c

need (and should automatically be given) ACPI_NUMA too.
The only open question is whether there is a better way of getting there.
Perhaps with less configuration options in the first place? We are heading
towards a future where so many systems will be NUMA that there would seem to
be little benefit in keeping ACPI_NUMA separate from ACPI ... but perhaps
we aren't quite there yet.

In an effort to make kprobe modules more portable, here is a patch that:
o Introduces the "symbol_name" field to struct kprobe.
The symbol->address resolution now happens in the kernel in an
architecture agnostic manner. 64-bit powerpc users no longer have
to specify the ".symbols"
o Introduces the "offset" field to struct kprobe to allow a user to
specify an offset into a symbol.
o The legacy mechanism of specifying the kprobe.addr is still supported.
However, if both the kprobe.addr and kprobe.symbol_name are specified,
probe registration fails with an -EINVAL.
o The symbol resolution code uses kallsyms_lookup_name(). So
CONFIG_KPROBES now depends on CONFIG_KALLSYMS
o Apparantly kprobe modules were the only legitimate out-of-tree user of
the kallsyms_lookup_name() EXPORT. Now that the symbol resolution
happens in-kernel, remove the EXPORT as suggested by Christoph Hellwig
o Modify tcp_probe.c that uses the kprobe interface so as to make it
work on multiple platforms (in its earlier form, the code wouldn't
work, say, on powerpc)

Make ZONE_DMA32 optional
- Add #ifdefs around ZONE_DMA32 specific code and definitions.
- Add CONFIG_ZONE_DMA32 config option and use that for x86_64
that alone needs this zone.
- Remove the use of CONFIG_DMA_IS_DMA32 and CONFIG_DMA_IS_NORMAL
for ia64 and fix up the way per node ZVCs are calculated.
- Fall back to prior GFP_ZONEMASK of 0x03 if there is no
DMA32 zone.

needs (== biarch) define AUDIT_ARCH in their Kconfig.
